Karl and Julia were right to be careful with the "little" lion. As used to humans as they are, they are not really tame. And they weigh roughly what each of the kids weighs. The cub's paws are about the size of the children's hands - except the cub's paw has claws and even a playful swipe with that paw can do some real damage. On the other hand, the unique experience of petting a lion cub certainly seemed worth the slight risk.
