Coming up the spiral driveway, through the main gate below the large stone sentries, the castle appears like an imposing fortress.

The Catholic chapel Michaelskapelle on the left remains from the second castle. The Protestant chapel Christuskapelle on the right was built for the current (third) castle. The remains of the famous Prussian Kings Friedrich Wilhelm I and Friedrich der Gro&e (Frederic the Great) were kept in this chapel from 1952 to 1991. After the German reunification, they were brought back to Potsdam.

The face of the castle is decorated with three statues: Friedrich Wilhelm III
Friedrich Wilhelm IV
Wilhelm I

The castle gardens look a bit sad in Winter, but they are well kept and pretty during the Summer.
